How to use the report
Start with the checks marked red: they cost the most installs. In most listings that’s screenshots (the first three are what people see in search) and the rating. Then compare your score card with the two or three apps that rank above you for your main keyword — what they do differently is usually the quickest win.
The average rating is shown next to your app in every search result, and Apple uses ratings when ranking apps. Replying to low ratings and fixing what they mention is ASO work too. allstarsbot posts every new App Store and Google Play review to Slack or Microsoft Teams, so your team sees them the day they come in.
FAQ
What does the ASO score measure?
It scores what Apple shows publicly for every app: how much of the 30-character name is used, the description, the number of iPhone and iPad screenshots, the average rating and number of ratings, how recently the app was updated, the release notes and the number of languages. Screenshots and ratings count most, because they decide most installs.
Why can’t it check the subtitle and keywords?
Apple doesn’t publish them in its API. The keyword field is private, and the subtitle is only on the App Store web page. Check those by hand with the list under the analyzer; the rules are in App Store keywords.
Does it work for Google Play apps?
Not yet. Google has no public API for Play Store listings. The App Store checks — name, screenshots, ratings, updates — apply to Google Play too, with different limits: a 30-character title, an 80-character short description and up to 8 screenshots.
Can I analyze a competitor’s app?
Yes, any app on the App Store. Comparing your score card with the top apps in your category shows quickly where your listing falls behind. More in competitor app analysis and competitor monitoring.
Why is the rating different from what I see in App Store Connect?
Ratings are per country. The analyzer shows the rating in the country you pick, while App Store Connect can show all countries together.
