Reviews live in two places: App Store Connect and the Google Play Console. Most of your team never opens either. That's why more and more app teams send reviews to the place they already read all day β€” Slack.

Why reviews belong in Slack

What each review message should include

A useful review notification contains:

Set it up with allstarsbot (about a minute)

  1. Find your app. Search the App Store or Google Play in the app finder. It works for any public app β€” yours or a competitor's.
  2. Create your account. Enter your email and choose a password.
  3. Add to Slack. Approve the allstarsbot Slack app and pick the channel.
  4. Done. You get the latest five reviews right away so you can see how it looks. From then on, allstarsbot checks both stores several times a day and posts every new review.

There are dedicated pages for App Store reviews in Slack and Google Play reviews in Slack. If your team uses Teams instead, see app reviews in Microsoft Teams.

How to organize the channel

One channel or several? Small teams do well with a single #app-reviews. Larger teams often split by app or platform (#reviews-ios, #reviews-android) or route a competitor's reviews to a separate #competitor-reviews.

Agree on emoji. For example:

Decide who owns what. Support answers one- and two-star reviews, product scans for feature requests weekly, marketing collects great quotes for the website and store screenshots.

Watch releases closely. During a phased release, the channel is your early-warning system β€” if three reviews mention the same problem on day one, pause the rollout.

Alternatives

You can build your own integration with the App Store Connect API, the Google Play Developer API and a Slack webhook. It's a nice weekend project, but you'll need to handle polling, deduplication, translations and many storefronts yourself. Full review-management suites are another option if you need dashboards and reporting on top.

For most teams, the simple version wins: every review, in the channel, minutes after it's posted. Try allstarsbot free for 7 days.
